Items Prohibited Inside the U.S. Consulates include but not limited to:

Anything that is electronic, digital watches, candies, water, knives garage door openers, lighters, matches, cigarettes, nail clippers, nail filers, gum, mints, food, bags large and small, cosmetics , medicines, etc…You will also be asked to remove your belt right before entering the consulate.
You may put it back on once you go through the metal detectors.

You may also leave them in our Van; however, we do not take any responsibility for them. Please leave those items on the Hotel.
We recommend that you bring your documents in a portfolio or binder neatly and organized, and avoid carrying bags into the Consulate as you will not be allowed in until you leave it somewhere else.
The whole process usually takes anywhere between 4 - 10 hours from start to finish depending on the system at the consulate and on the personnel that the port of entry it might have on the day of your appointment at the Consulate.
Possible Delays which may occur at the U.S. Consulate include but not limited to:
- The system or the printers malfunction and no visas can be printed. This tends to happen every now and then but is usually taken care of the same day. Clients have been asked to return the following morning on some rare occasions.
- Visa is misprinted. This is the most common delay our clients have faced in the past. Usually the 8:30 A.M. appointments have a better chance of getting it corrected before lunch time but there is no guarantee of that. This delay is also usually taken care of the same day, however, some clients have been asked to return the following morning. Please make sure to check your visa once it is given back to you. The sooner you catch the mistake, the sooner you get your visa back.
- Extra Security Clearance is needed. This is probably the most serious of all delays which have occurred. This usually means an extended stay in Mexico which may range from 5 days up to 3 weeks. This has happened to about 0.10% of our clients since we began in 2004. Your visa will be issued once your name has been cleared from the Consulate's database. There is really no way of preventing this, nor is it a random occurrence. We will have to apply for a departure permit on your behalf with the Mexican Immigration which will allow you up to 30 days extra in Matamoros, otherwise you would have to leave the country. All of our clients who have experienced this in the past have all been cleared after some time.
- Port of Entry is very slow because of not enough personnel or because they too many people applying for different types of benefits.
- Because of you- If you forget to print out the DS Forms or if you forget basic documentation for your interview and they give you a 221g Example F1 to H1-B imperative to bring OPT, Transcript and Diploma if not they will ask to bring it you will be contacting someone to fax you or send those documents, a lot of time lost there.
